Installation Process
A great benefit of this flooring is how easily it can be installed without taking away from day-to-day activities. There are two main types of this flooring and that is the rolls of flooring and the individual tiles. Below we will explore the installation process of each.
PVC Roll Installation
One of the most important parts of the installation process as with all installations is the prep work. Making sure the area is clean and ready to go is crucial to how well the flooring will work for your area and how long it will last. To install this flooring you roll out the flooring from one side of the garage to the other and trim it using a razor knife. Then you repeat this step on the second run so that you create a seamless design for your flooring to cover all the flooring in your garage.
PVC Tile Installation
Of course, the first step in the installation is the prep work which is making sure the area is clean and prepared for the tiles to be put down. Lay the tile panels down and lock them together using a rubber mallet to pound them together so they are secure. You can choose to trim tabs off the tiles for your trim work or most brands offer trim to give a smooth finish to your flooring without the hassle of having to trim tiles by hand.

If this is the route you choose to take there are some tips from the professionals that could prove to be useful if you find yourself stuck in a tough spot. First and foremost, make sure you have all the tools you need and then some. If this isn’t the type of work you’re used to you need to have your knife and mallet but also may want to grab some knee pads as your knees will be sore by the end of the installation. You may also want to research the shape of your garage and the correct starting point for your installation. This will save a lot of hazards and potentially wasted time. When you take on a new project like installing a new PVC garage flooring, it is best to take your time so you can make sure you don’t get ahead of yourself and do it the right way so that it will last.
F.A.Q.S
About Polyvinyl Chloride Garage Flooring
Can I use a carjack on my tiles?
Really this depends on the type of tiles you have installed in your garage and what their softness is. Some tiles cannot withstand the weight of a car jack directly on them which is why you should use some plywood or sheet metal to help evenly distribute the weight. It may seem crazy but harder tiles don’t have the flexibility needed to withstand the weight of a car jack so if you have harder tiles it can cause damage to the tiles to use a car jack directly on them. Meanwhile, the softer tiles will be okay because of their flexibility.
Will water get trapped under my tiles and cause mold or mildew?
Water doesn’t necessarily get “trapped” under your tiles but there is the possibility that it can seep through and get under them. PVC garage floor tiles are resistant to mold and mildew so if water was to get under the tiles it will simply evaporate. There may be times where you do see a residue that can be caused by this water but it is simply minerals left behind by this evaporated water. If you are installing directly over concrete it is suggested to seal your concrete before installing the tiles so it can decrease the concrete from “sweating.”
How much will this garage flooring cost?
As with any other flooring quotes, there are many factors that go into deciding the price of your garage flooring. One major cost factor will be if you decide to go the DIY route or hire a contractor to install it for you. Even if you decide to DIY, then you have to consider the cost of materials you want to use, your tools, and the flooring itself. Typically, the garage rolls will be the most cost-efficient while the hard tiles are the second runner-up. Softer PVC garage flooring tiles are the most costly but everything depends on the style you’re going for and the use of your garage in what will be a good fit for you to invest in your home.
