    installation process

Installation Process of Epoxy Resin Floors

The installation of your epoxy resin flooring should start with the proper preparation of the surface. Making sure the surfaces are fully prepared for the epoxy is incredibly important to ensure the bond and longevity of the flooring. Start by inspecting the garage for damage that could cause an uneven installation or unsecured bond. Epoxy resin won’t adhere to concrete surfaces that are sealed or painted concrete. If these are present they will need to be removed by means such as grinding. This preparation step includes finding any crack, chipping, or imperfection that needs to be repaired. If the concrete has been freshly poured you will need to wait 30 days for the curing process. Next, ensure that the surface is thoroughly and properly cleaned. Make sure the surface is clear from residues from oils and grease and follow by sweeping the floor. Next is the grinding process to prepare the surface to accept the epoxy resin. This grinding process exposes the pores of the concrete to accept the epoxy resin. Once the surface is prepared, cleaned, and has been ground with a diamond wheel blade it is time to apply the epoxy resin.
The epoxy resin starts by being mixed. It is at this step of the process that if you choose metallic pigments they will be added to the resin. After the epoxy is mixed it is then applied to the concrete using squeegees to give a nice even and seamless surface. Once this layer of epoxy is installed this is when the decorative flakes will be added. Once the first coat is installed it is allowed to cure before other coats are applied. You can have more layers added to increase the thickness to the thickness you desire. Once the desired thickness is achieved, a clear topcoat is applied for added protection and shine!

Choosing the Right Epoxy Resin Contractor

When you decide to apply epoxy resin flooring it is important to find the perfect contractor. Epoxy resin floors can be a process that requires the professional knowledge and experience to ensure that it has a superior bond and will last for years to come. Having knowledge backed by years of experience is one thing that guarantees the job will be done quickly as well as efficiently. A professional contractor is licensed, bonded, and insured to guarantee the job is done as safely as possible. A professional contractor can offer many different options for customization that may not be found in home improvement stores for a do-it-yourself project. While you may not want to put money towards hiring a professional it can save you money in the long run. Having a professional contractor guarantees the job is done right without having to worry about installing the epoxy resin incorrectly or wasting the product.
